When You're Tired

Looks like there is no longer love and hip hop in Erica Mena’s life any more. News recently hit the tabloids that the reality star’s relationship with Shad Moss, otherwise known as Bow Wow, ended after only a short period of getting together. And although they hashed out their breakup issues on social media, it was a little unclear as to what was the cause, but Mena came clean as to why the seemingly happy couple quickly crashed and burned.
The breakup may not come as a surprise to most as it was frequently over the Internet that their love wouldn’t last, but even so, the reason behind it may be a little more shocking. “He’s an abuser,” Mena said. As for the abuse she’s endured, she’s not referring to physical, but instead mind games that she most definitely asserts the former 106 & Park host played during their time together.
“I’ve been quiet about it because we were engaged, but obviously he was in his feelings after my Snapchat post…I could have gone public about our breakup a month ago,” she said. “He does this to make headlines. Just leave me alone, I moved on; why are you still in your feelings? He’s literally posting about Joie [his daughter’s mother] to get on my nerves and it’s not working. He’s posting it to fu*k with her head and to try to get a reaction out of me. Listen, I walked away silently.”
Although Mena was frequently seen hashing out her differences on VH1’sLove & Hip Hop with fists and drinks, she revealed that she’s at a different place in her life, a state of peace. “I feel like people have seen me on reality TV having to fight, but at this point in my life, I deserve peace. I’m in a different place now. When it comes to Shad, this is the man I at one point really considered marrying,” she said. “He is the one I decided to say yes to, but once the mask came off, I realized I had made a bad choice…It’s sad, because we had a real friendship and we could have had a good life after the fact that our relationship was over. But at the end of the day, we’ve been separated for some time and I’m ready to move on.”
Judging by the mouth full Moss had to say about Mena’s attention-seeking and revealing their miscarriage to the world, he’ll most definitely have more to say. Mena has since moved on, but she has some advice for her ex-fiance. “He has a lot of demons he needs to deal with. He needs to talk to someone.”

So everyone’s talking about the Umno smartphone; here’s the story of its maker

www.yahoo.com
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 — If your universe exists on Twitter, Facebook and Whatsapp, you may already be familiar with the Umno smartphone that made its debut this week at the Malay political party’s annual general assembly.
Priced at an auspicious RM888 per unit and available in two colours: black or white, the phone’s specs boasted a 5.5-inch high-definition IPS screen, a 2GB RAM processor, 16GB of internal memory, a 2,500mAh battery that also has dual-SIM card input, a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
It’s called the Umno smartphone because it has been customised to show the Umno logo on its boot screen, lock screen and home screen. It also has a back cover with the party logo imprinted.
But you would have known all that by now. What you may not know is that was made by a Malaysian company, Chili Mobile, touted to be the country’s first customisable phone producer.
Malay Mail Online met up with the little-known local cellphone maker’s founder Abdul Rahim Mohamad last night and found out that only 2,000 units of the Umno branded smartphone was produced exclusively for the general assembly. To date, 600 units have been sold.
And here’s the surprise. Abdul Rahim said the phone is not exclusive to Umno. His company simply took advantage of their customisable platform to create a special phone for the country’s largest political party at its annual assembly in an enterprising effort to boost its sales.
“It is Umno’s convention, so I do (sic) it for Umno. If tomorrow is PAS’ convention, I will do it for PAS also.
“I’m not a politician. I am a businessman, so I take the opportunity when I can,” he said when met at his booth located on level three of the Putra World Trade Centre, where the Umno assembly is taking place.
Abdul Rahim said the Umno smartphone has been well-received by delegates there. Some have even asked him if they could customise their phones with their party division and even branch names.
“Our approach is that we can customise your phone for any organisation, clubs, co-operative. Anyone.
“You can request what brand and specifications you require and we will do it for you. You can choose the processor, memory, camera capacity, battery capacity and so on and we will make the phone for you,” he said, adding that customers can even ask for “Pekida, PAS and other logos” if they wished.
The Cyberjaya-based start-up said their smartphones were a partnership with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority and the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.
Usually, the phones would be priced at RM2,000, Abdul Rahim said, which would make the Umno phones a steal at RM888.
Malaysia’s Twittersphere hotted up with pictures, questions and remarks about these gadgets yesterday, and appears to still be trending at the time of writing under the hashtag #UMNOsmartphone.
The Umno smartphone has been customised to show the Umno logo on its boot screen, lock screen and home screen. It also has a back cover with the party logo imprinted. The responses were mixed, though many were largely supportive of the idea of a locally-made customisable smartphone while others poked fun at the possible features the phone might contain, and yet others who were sceptical it would take off.
“Wow #UMNOsmartphone sounds good, free ade nak!!!” tweeted Quinn, adding the emoji for laughing out loud.
“Umno smartphone ada gst calculator. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA,” Twitter user Syinaz97 posted, in a light-hearted gibe at the controversial Goods and Services Tax introduced by the federal government in April.
Twitter user Vicky Tan suggested that the Umno smartphone “is a plot to remove other smartphones in the market!”
Accompanying her post was a cool modified ad promoting the Umno smartphone brandishing the party’s logo in four colours that bore a striking similarity to the new iPhone 6S models.
The tagline? “Umno1Phone6S: Teknologi Menyatukan Melayu”, which translates to “Technology Unifying Malays”.

Nurul Izzah not off the hook yet

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice president Nurrul Izzah Anwar is not in the clear yet for having met self styled Sulu Princess Jacel Kiram.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Ting Lai said that although the opposition leader had apologised for the meeting, what she had done was unforgivable as it the intrusion into Lahad Datu by the group led by her father had caused the country a lot of pain.
"We are very sad that we are facing terrorist threats in the country and at at the same time, our opposition leader Nurul Izzah has had contact with such a leader there."
"Although she has apologised but that does not excuse her from what she had done, which is unbecoming of an opposition leader."
"This shows the mentality of the opposition, who only go for policital gain instead of considering national security," he said.
The self proclaimed Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III was behind the Lahad Datu intrusion which led to the deaths of Malaysian security personnel in 2013.

Did Umno disclose party finances at general assembly? Dr M says no, treasurer says yes

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 ― Umno elder Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad alleged that the country’s political party departed from custom and left out sharing the details of its financial report with delegates at the general assembly today.
www.yahoo.com.my

In a news conference at the Islamic Arts Museum here, the former Umno president and prime minister said it was customary for the party treasurer to table a financial report at the annual general assembly.
“But this time, there is no report on the party's financial standing,” Dr Mahathir told reporters after speaking to some 200 Kedah and Kluang Umno members at a function here.
However, Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah rubbished the allegation when contacted for verification.
“No need to entertain him lah. I’ve presented it already lah,” he toldMalay Mail Online.
Dr Mahathir has been a fierce critic of Umno president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s administration in recent months, demanding the latter resign from office to take responsibility for a number of issues, notably the high debt-pile facing state-owned 1Malaysia Development Berhad and a RM2.6 billion foreign political fund.
The 90-year-old Kedahan who attended the Umno assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre earlier today said he was hoping to hear the details of the party’s finances first-hand, especially on the RM2.6 billion that Najib has publicly admitted was donated directly into his personal bank accounts from several Middle Eastern donors.
Najib is said to have addressed the issue and cited facts and figures during a closed-door presidential briefing with Umno delegates Tuesday, with many later telling reporters they were satisfied with the PM’s explanations.

Public holiday for Kedah if it wins Malaysia Cup final

ALOR STAR: A statewide public holiday awaits Kedah on Sunday if its football team wins the coveted Malaysia Cup final tonight.
Its Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, in a brief statement today, said the decision was made after a discussion with the state executive council, with the consent of the Council of Regency chairman Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah.
"Should employers insist that their employees turn up to work tomorrow, they must comply with the Employment Act 1955 in providing double payment of salary and overtime allowances for their employees for the day.
"Employers however are also allowed the replace the public holiday on any other day as subject to the provisions of the relevant laws," said Mukhriz.

Kirk Douglas Turns 99 With A Party And A $15 Million Birthday Gift

EXCLUSIVE:  Spartacus at 99
www.yahoo.com.my

Kirk Douglas celebrated his 99th birthday on Wednesday at his home in Beverly Hills with wife Anne and  sons Michael, Peter, Joel and daughter-in-law Catherine Zeta-Jones as he held court under a huge banner made of red and white roses that spelled out “99 Today”. On the dining room table was a large rectangular birthday cake. Earlier in the day the legendary star reversed the usual protocol and instead of receiving a gift he decided instead to give one, a BIG one.
With his initial donation of $15 million, the Motion Picture & Television Fund in Woodland Hills announced plans to build a two-story $35 million Alzheimer’s facility to be named the Kirk Douglas Care Pavilion, which will be able to take care of upwards of 80 industry members with that disease.  It is expected to break ground in late 2016.  “It is in keeping with Kirk’s philosophy of giving back to the entertainment  community that he is the one giving us the gift on his birthday instead of us lavishing one on him,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, chairman of the MPTF Foundation, who adds that with this most recent commitment Kirk and his wife, Anne Douglas are some of the largest donors in the history of MPTF with over $40 million to date. In fact, in 1992 they helped create the Alzheimer’s Unit at MPTF known as Harry’s Haven which was named for Douglas’ father. Harry’s Haven will now become the first floor of the new facility. “When Jeffrey Katzenberg explained the urgency of enlarging  the current facility to accommodate more patients, we had to say yes. Jeffrey knows it is our philosophy to provide funding where it is needed most. The Kirk Douglas Care Pavilion is going to help a lot of families in our community,” Douglas said in a statement.

But back to the party. Son Michael made a speech about his dad, remarking how many people want to talk to him about Kirk’s essays in the Huffington Post, his books and their favorite of his films. To which Kirk responded, “My son Michael is here, which just proves if you have enough money, you can have Michael Douglas  speak at any event.” Among those stopping by to visit the actor was Katzenberg, who brought along a large 3-dimensional model of the new Kirk Douglas Care Pavilion that sat in the hall tied with a large ribbon. Universal chief Ron Meyer was there, with Douglas asking him how Kirk Douglas Way, the street named after him at U, was doing on the lot. He told Meyer he plans to put a Kosher Deli in as soon as he finds time. Longtime friend Don Rickles came in, made his way straight to Kirk and said, “I’m not staying,” a line that got a big laugh from Douglas. Laugh-In producer George Schlatter was there, already making plans with Anne for what they can do for Kirk’s 100th which takes place on December 9, 2016.

Iranian woman to be stoned to death as world marks UN 'Human Rights Day'

www.yahoo.com.my

As the world marks International Human Rights Day on Thursday, Iran is continuing its execution spree with the announcement that a woman has been sentenced to death by stoning. The gruesome penalty, in which the wrongdoer is buried up to their shoulders and pelted with rocks, was first reported on the Persian-language Iranian website LAHIG. The woman, who was identified only by the initials “A.Kh,” was convicted of being complicit in her husband's murder.
An Iranian criminal court in Rasht, the capital city of the northern province of Gilan, handed down the brutal sentence.
“The rate of executions in Iran has not decreased in the last few years, it has increased," Maryam Nayeb Yazdi, a prominent Canadian-Iranian human rights activist based in Toronto, told FoxNews.com. "Although stoning has become more rare in Iran, such sentences are still being issued by Iranian judges. The probability of a stoning sentence to be carried out is slim due to the international sensitivity of the issue; there is a great chance her sentence may be ‘converted’ to death by hanging.”
“The rate of executions in Iran has not decreased in the last few years, it has increased."
- Maryam Nayeb Yazdi, Iranian-Canadian activist

Iran is believed to have imposed death by stoning on at least 150 people since the Islamic Revolution in 1980, according to the International Committees against Execution and Stoning.

"We need to note that an official Iranian website released the stoning sentence news, and we should question the regime's motives for doing so," said Nayeb Yazdi, who runs the translation blog Persian2English and works with the international NGO Iran Human Rights. "The stoning sentence is an indication of the Iranian regime's continued war against women in Iran. Arbitrary executions in Iran must be on top of the agenda in any dialogue between Iran and the West.”
After a widespread public-pressure campaign in the West in 2010, Iran dropped the stoning penalty against a 43-year-old Iranian woman. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was sentenced to stoning for alleged adultery. Her case remains shrouded in judicial mystery and it is unclear if she will still be executed.
“Whether or not one supports the nuclear deal with Iran, it is astonishing that the West cultivates an ever-closer alliance with a theocratic regime widely known for its abysmal human rights record and aggressive behavior in the region," Julie Lenarz, executive director of the UK-based Human Security Center told FoxNews.com. "They hang men for the "crime" of writing poems; or engaging in peaceful protest; or loving someone of the same sex.
“Women are stoned for being raped and Iranian law even allows for juvenile executions. Iran is averaging three hangings per day at the moment and remains a pariah state with no regard for human life," she added. "In a despicable form of moral myopia, the gold rush for business, as the international sanctions regime begins to unravel, has made Western governments blind to the suffering of ordinary Iranians at the hands of the Ayatollahs.”
The UN's Human Rights Day is observed every year on Dec. 10 and commemorates the day in 1948 on which the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

If Your Guy Does These 16 Things, Congrats! You Found a Real Man

If you find yourself constantly swiping left on Tinder, then you know what qualities you want in a guy. It can be hard, however, to tell if they act like a boy or a man. Don't be fooled; YourTango has rounded up a list of all things that make up a true gentleman below. How to know you're dating a true gentleman and total, bonafide catch.
I love Rhett Butler.
No, not Gerard. Rhett.
In fact, I feel that every man and woman on the planet should be made to watch "Gone With The Wind" at least twice, if only to teach men how to be men and women how to separate them from the boys. And if you are dating in the here and now, you know where the boys are: on Tinder, on Match, on the street, making vulgar statements about what they'd like to do with you and where. They're in your phone texting sexual innuendos before they know your last name and asking to "hang out" because they're terrified of committing to the idea of a proper date.
Rhett Butler would not do any of this.
Rhett was a man in control of himself. He dressed and spoke well, loved better, and had a great sense of humor, sometimes of questionable taste. He was unafraid to speak his mind, stand his ground, fall wildly in love, and show his love (and fight for it, too). Now, before you remind me that I'm speaking about a fictional character, I'll let you in on a little secret: I was raised by a man who lived this way and know a few men who live this way now, and make no mistake: they do wonderfully with women.
As a woman, there's nothing better than being in the presence of a man who relishes in his masculinity in a way that doesn't involve the obvious chest-pounding and cat-calling, but the confident reserve of a gentleman. Now, before you accuse me of hating men, let me be clear; I love more things about men than I can put into one article. This is not about finding female empowerment through man-bashing. Quite the opposite, actually. It's a celebration of the grown up man's man who knows how to treat a woman. What does this man look like, to me, at least? Well...
1. He is hygienic, but cleans his nails and trims his nose hairs outside of a nail salon. Think about it: Would Hemingway or Gladiator be getting his nails buffed? Methinks not.
2. He can balance both swag and sophistication and a career and a personal life without too many proverbial exclamation points (and certainly not multiple ones in a text message. No, no, no).
3. He reserves his "LOL" for actual laughter, which he exudes out loud and often.
4. He isn't looking to play "pen pal" with you through your iPhone because he knows that all text and no play makes Johnny a very dull boy.
5. When he's interested in a woman, he doesn't wait three days to call her, but he does actually call her, and when he does, he asks her out for dinner, makes reservations, picks a great bottle of wine (because he knows how to) and then makes sure she gets home safely.
6. If he wants to see her again, he lets her know, and if he doesn't, he politely lets her know that it was a pleasure to spend time with her, even if it wasn't. He does, however, let her know gently and firmly enough that he's not interested so that she doesn't waste her time thinking it might become something it won't.
7. He reads actual books and newspapers and holds opinions on everything from scotch pairings to world events all the while understanding that not all of his opinions are facts and that not everyone has to agree with him in order for him to maintain his relationships or his manhood. In fact, he enjoys it when you don't agree with him because it means he gets to indulge you in a good debate or leave you thinking a little bit harder about things than when you sat down in front of him.
8. He opens doors and takes coats, not because he feels a woman is weak, but because he is strong enough to show that he cares about the comfort of those around him.
9. Sure, he might want to get into a woman's bed, but he's also interested in getting into her head as experience has shown him that seduction is a delicate dance and the man who resides in her mind has conquered every other part of her.
10. He appreciates a woman who shows she cares for him, but he isn't interested in being courted. He enjoys taking the lead in courting and doesn't need to be "chased" because he's in desperate need of an ego stroke. He also won't play "puppy dog" to a woman who takes advantage of this.
11. He doesn't look to be anyone's father or savior, and he doesn't pretend to be the leading man in any woman's fairy tale. He's just a man looking for a partner who can slay her own dragons, pay her own bills and explore the world alongside him.
12. He looks for a woman who doesn't need him, but wants him, not for money or thehappiness or a baby or a safety net, but solely for who he is.
13. He has a career, a hobby, a family of close friends and a favorite way to have his steak prepared and he isn't the least bit intimidated when the woman in front of him shares these qualities; quite the contrary, it makes him want her more.
14. He has taken the time to get to know himself and has a strong understanding of his own character and convictions, what he values and what he doesn't. He is a man who is honest with himself about himself and therefore is OK being honest with those around him.
15. He takes as much pride in the way he treats women he's with as he does his job and the way he looks.
16. He's not the bad boy, a good boy, or a boy at all; he's a man. A leading man, and he's looking not for a good girl, but a great woman. One who shares all of the solid qualities that he brings to the table, and perhaps, can teach him something along the way. He's willing to wait and work for this woman, to fight for her and will gladly hold out for her as long as he needs to. But when she comes along, he doesn't sit on the fence; he's smart enough to know when he's gotten damned lucky. And when she finds him, she should be smart enough to know the same.

Johnny Manziel: 'I was forced to learn a hard lesson'

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Johnny Manziel didn't like being punished for partying. He didn't agree with being benched and isn't happy it cost him the spotlight of a Monday night game.
But now that his punishment's over, Manziel says he wants to make the most of his new chance to start.
And if he doesn't behave, it may be Johnny Football's last chance with the Browns.
Speaking to reporters for the first time since being demoted last month for off-field behavior, Manziel didn't apologize for his actions, offered no promises and said he feels fortunate to be back in the starting lineup this week against San Francisco.
"I was forced to learn a hard lesson," he said. "I had to learn the hard way and I'm lucky to be back in the position that I'm in and being the starter again, so I'm definitely not taking that lightly. That's for sure."
Browns coach Mike Pettine punished Manziel after a video surfaced of the polarizing and popular QB holding a champagne bottle and rapping profane lyrics at a club in Austin, Texas. Manziel had promised the Browns he wouldn't be a distraction during the team's bye week and then became one on social media sites.
Manziel called the situation "a lapse in judgment" and said he learned his lesson.
"Obviously, there's a way to conduct yourself that 31 other guys in the league do each and every week," he said. "You have to follow that example and realize that this is a very prestigious situation that I'm in being a starting quarterback in the NFL, so I have to take pride in that and act accordingly."
He had better. Pettine warned Wednesday that the team won't stand any more off-field shenanigans.
"It would be hard for me to sit here and say, 'We have a zero-tolerance policy,'" Pettine said. "But if something were to occur, I could imagine that the repercussions would be harsh."
As for his two-game benching, the 23-year-old Manziel made it clear he thought the penalty was excessive.
"In coach Pettine's mind, he thought that was necessary to get the harsh point across to me," Manziel said. "Did I like it? No. Did I have to sit there with a bad taste in my mouth and accept the consequences for my actions? Sure. I'm just sitting here today very thankful to be back in this role and be back in front of these guys and being in the huddle calling plays again and trying to go out and salvage what's left of this season and take some pride in these last four games."
Manziel's start on Sunday will be his first since he passed for a career-high 372 yards against Pittsburgh on Nov. 15. He was named Cleveland's starter for the final six games before partying away the opportunity.
Now he has four games to show how far he's progressed — to spark a season already up in flames for Cleveland and help the Browns decide whether he can be their future quarterback.
"It comes down to pride," Manziel said. "If people have pride in what they do and their craft. I'm completely bunkered in for these last four weeks and will come in every day and give every ounce of energy to try to win these last four games."
Pettine acknowledged for the first time that the Browns did not understand the depths of Manziel's problems before they drafted the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner last year. He entered the NFL with a reputation for enjoying nightlife and spent 10-plus weeks in a rehab facility last winter for an unspecified condition.
The team did its usual background check on Manziel, but Pettine said were some things the Browns didn't uncover.
"I don't think we anticipated that his problems, his issues, maybe how deep-rooted they were, the extent of it," Pettine said. "If you sat in our draft meetings and listened to the background reports on a lot of our guys and you took guys off the board based on that, there would be about five or six magnets left over to pick from.
"You have to decide how much of this is maturity? Was it early in his college year? Is it continuing? You do as much research as you can," he said. "That's why the draft is hit or miss with so many guys just because of how impossible it is to predict those things as they move forward."
Pettine said he spoke on Tuesday with Manziel about the team's expectations going forward.
"I'm a big believer in 'show me, don't tell me,'" Pettine said.

The CEO of GE explains why his math degree is more useful than his MBA

General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt has all the qualifications you would expect of a Fortune 500 chief executive.
The Cincinnati-born son of a GE employee studied at Dartmouth and earned a Harvard MBA before working his way up at the industrial giant he now helms.
But Immelt says his most invaluable qualification is not the MBA — it's his undergraduate degree in math.
"I use my math major every day — I don't use the MBA quite as much," Immelt said, speaking atBusiness Insider's IGNITION 2015 conference on Wednesday.
"My intellectual curiosity goes more toward problem solving than spreadsheets."
Of course, Immelt said, he understands the mechanics of running a business — all the things you learn in business school.
But running a company, to Immelt, is really about problem solving. And that's something he learned about in his undergraduate studies, due to "the inherent intellectual curiosity around math and physics."
That has stayed with Immelt throughout his career.
"I'm just curious about everything," he said. "I can view every situation as a problem to be solved, and I've never lost my passion for that as I've grown in my career."

It Happened: Justin Theroux Shared a Pic of Jennifer Aniston on Instagram

The second that Justin Theroux joined Instagram last week, the pleas from followers for him to get his wife. Jennifer Aniston, yo join began. Now, we have the next best thing: a snapshot of her.
Of course, the Cake actress is only shown in profile and she isn’t exactly identified, but it brings us one step closer to having Aniston on social media. And honestly, it’s probably as close as we’ll ever come to the real thing, since she’s noted that her attempts at it were less than ideal.
“#wcw #valentinored #xo” Theroux captioned the photo of Aniston in what appears to be the strapless Valentino number she wore for the 2013 Oscars.

Theroux and Aniston have done their best to keep their romance out of the spotlight since they began dating in 2011, except for the typical newlywed gushing. They reportedly kept their Aug. 5 wedding a surprise from guests, and never released wedding photos, an anomaly in the world of celebrity these days. Having one of the most high-profile breakups in Hollywood history, such as Aniston’s 2005 divorce from Brad Pitt, has to make a person want to keep some things quiet.
So while the pic Theroux shared of her is not the greatest, it’s progress. Baby steps.
